Persona

PERSONA

Now we know that life will change

Persona are the masks a person wears when confronting the world around them to protect their deepest vulnerabilities. When these masks are torn away, a great power can be realized. All Infiltrators and Operators may summon and make use of a Persona. A Persona normally appears as a mask they wear on their face while in the Metaverse, but when the mask is torn away it dissolves into blue flame and the spiritual presence of the Persona materializes behind them, guiding them and aiding them in combat.

All characters capable of manifesting a Persona have a single personal Persona that they always have with them. This Persona cannot be fused and does not count toward the total limit they can carry, and represents their personal mask and power. Beyond that, a character may hold a number of additional Persona. Normally, these Persona are unlocked either by recruitment in a Palace or Mementos or through Social Links, attaining a Social Link with another character allows them to access a Persona that character holds within their heart. Additionally, Persona can be fused to create new and more powerful enemies.

Infiltrators are capable of using the full array of a Persona's abilities in combat, but Operators are more limited. Operators can use any buff, debuff, healing, and status ailment spells a Persona possesses, or they can give passive abilities and offensive skills to an ally during combat if desired.

Currently, characters can have no more than 8 Additional Persona.

Whenever a Persona has been attained, it is added to the Compendium. Should you come to no longer possess the Persona through releasing it or Fusion, you may summon it again from the Compendium in the Velvet Room, for a price.

Summoning a Persona from a C-Rank Social Link requires 2 Notoriety

Summoning a Persona from a B-Rank Social Link requires 6 Notoriety

Summoning a Persona from an A-Rank Social Link requires 10 Notoriety

Should you reach the cap, you will need to either dismiss or fuse the Persona you have on hand in order to bring yourself to the limit of 8. If you are participating in a major log such as a Palace Infiltration, you may only bring 4 Persona with you, in addition to your own.

Personal Persona

All Infiltrators and Operators have a personal Persona that represents their core combat capabilities and powers. Personal Persona are originals created by the player at the time of application and have two forms, Base and Final.

The Base form is the version of the Persona that the character will likely use for a majority of the game. Typically it will have one focused element and one elemental weakness. The Final form is attained when the character reaches an S-rank Social Link with another character, typically their elemental strength will become an immunity, they will gain a new element they resist and they will become more proficient at dodging their weak element.

Personal Persona are encouraged to help simulate the character's canon ability set. In some cases, it is possible characters may use the same or similarly named Persona to canon but with different forms and this is permitted. For example, a Final Fantasy character might wish to use Odin, even though Odin exists as a standard Persona.

Additionally, Personal Persona can be similarly named if they are shared throughout a broad swath of the series. Again using Final Fantasy as an example, if characters from two separate titles wish to use their own title's version of Bahamut, this is also permitted.

Fusion

Standard Persona that are acquired through Social Links, Palace explorations and Mementos can be fused together to form more powerful Persona. Fusions can be performed on the Fusion Page .
