Premise
PREMISE
Let's Start the Game
BGM: Hymn of the Soul
You are roused from your slumber quite suddenly, and find yourself quite far from your bed indeed. Arrayed before you is an immense room, easily able to accommodate hundreds of people, with rows of curving tables surrounding one main podium. Instead of lying down, as you were certain you had been when you went to sleep, you are instead seated at a chair, a placard with your name and country of origin displayed in bold, engraved letters.
At the podium stands a hunched man with an enormous nose and bulging eyes. At his side in the corner, a young woman with pale blonde hair wearing a smart blue suit sits at a laptop, her fingers flying across the keyboard. She looks up briefly, smiles politely at you, and then returns to her work.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room," the man says. "The world awaits your coming."
His voice is querulous, even shrill, but he speaks with confidence and assurance. "I am Igor. Consider me the chairman. My goal is to serve you and your fellows in your quest to change the world. For now, please, sign the contract you see before you and accept the key to this place. We look forward to your service with us."
As your name is written within the contract, the world seems to spin and you jolt awake, once again in your bed. It seems that nothing has really changed, save for a strange red app that has somehow made its way onto your phone...
Phantom Thieves International is a Panfandom Alternate Universe game based heavily on the universe of Persona 5. Players will take on the role of Phantom Thieves of Heart and their accomplices, using their personal spirit of rebellion to face otherworldly foes and steal the hearts of the wicked, causing them to confess their crimes before society. Taking place in modern day Los Angeles, the Phantom Thieves will strike back at those who have wronged themselves and society and try to make the world a better place.
Content Warning: Persona games are rated mature due to the subject matter they deal with. This game will follow much of the spirit of the games, and will as such involve storylines that touch on subjects such as racism, prejudice, assault, exploitation, and rape. As will the Persona games, some of the more lurid content will be more implicit than explicit, and the mod team will do our best to portray the topics we do take on with appropriate consideration. While this game is not currently age-restricted, it will deal with more serious subject matter and players are encouraged to address such issues in their character plots and backstories. While everyone should come into the game expecting discussion of potentially triggering content, we ask that any explicit descriptions of such content be labeled with a content warning and placed under a cut. Persona, especially Persona 5, is about confronting ills of society and overcoming them, and it would be a disservice to the source material to shy away from some of the greater ills in the world today.
