Confidants

CoπŸ…½fidanπŸ†ƒs

The true path to power is through a person's bonds. In Phantom Thieves International, all characters can become Confidants with each other. Confidants have 4 grades, the first three, C, B, and A, representing more traditional friendships and S representing one singular partnership or bond between two people. A character is limited to one S-rank Confidant, but there is no limit to the number of other A-rank Confidants they may possess.

It is important to note that an S-Rank Confidant isn't necessarily a representation of physical intimacy or marriage, although it can certainly take that form. Rather, an S-Rank Confidant is a representation of a deep devotion and bond between the two individuals that transcends other relationships. Characters might even be physically intimate at a C-Rank Confidant if it is in character for them to do so, the major differentiation between an S-Rank and an A-Rank is that the two characters have entered into some kind of agreement or understanding that they have each other's back above all else.

In all cases, when a Confidant is ranked up it is ranked up for both characters, so both characters need to have demonstrated their relationship is within the bounds of the rank they are seeking to achieve it.

C-Rank: C-Rank Confidants are characterized by an established friendship or partnership. Characters should expect to have threads equaling about 25 comments or so per character before they are eligible for a C-Rank Confidant. C Rank is expressed by a fresh bond, one that hasn't really been tested but should maintain a sense of amicable camaraderie that is beginning to develop.

Infiltrators and Operators gain access to a character's C-Rank Persona when they achieve this rank, and that Persona can be summoned by them from the Compendium henceforth. Accomplices gain 1 Link Point when they achieve this rank.

B-Rank: B-Rank Confidants are characterized by a deeper, closer friendship or partnership. Characters should expect to have threads equaling about 75 comments or so per character before they are eligible for a B-Rank Confidants. B-Rank is expressed by a growing familiarity and a strong friendship or partnership that has weathered some rough patches.

Infiltrators and Operators gain access to a character's B-Rank Persona when they achieve this rank, and that Persona can be summoned by them from the Compendium henceforth. Accomplices gain 1 Link Point when they achieve this rank.

A-Rank: A-Rank Confidants are characterized by a deep, abiding friendship or partnership that has withstood the test of time and strife. Characters should expect to have threads equaling about 150 comments or so per character before they are eligible for an A-Rank Confidant. A-Rank is expressed by people who have stood by each other at their worst moments and have formed a very close bond. An A Rank is a bond that has become a blood oath.

Infiltrators and Operators gain access to a character's A-Rank Persona when they achieve this rank, and that Persona can be summoned by them from the Compendium henceforth. Accomplices gain 2 Link Points when they achieve this rank.

S-Rank: As mentioned before, S-Rank Confidants are limited to one per character, and is characterized by the deepest, closest bond that character will ever form with another. Should a character you have an S-Rank Confidant be dropped, you will have the option to maintain it if the character is stated to have become a background NPC but not continue to be played, or you may annul it and establish another S-Rank Confidant later.

Infiltrators and Operators will experience the final evolution of their Persona at this rank. It will enter its final form, and they will be able to access and use the final form of their S-Rank partner in combat. That Persona will be locked in and cannot be fused. If an Infiltrator attains an S-Rank with an Accomplice, the Accomplice may create a unique evolved Persona for them to use. Accomplices gain 6 Link Points when they achieve this rank.

All players are required to track their own Confidants. The mod team will not actively moderate Confidant ranks, which will generally be held under the honor system, although if you seem to be moving too quickly with it we will contact you individually to discuss the issue. Below is coding for a Confidant page in the style of the game. You are not required to use it, it is simply there for your convenience/aesthetic.

The πŸ…²ode

Below is the raw code for the main confidant sheet. There are several subsections available to edit. The header should always be at the top and the footer should always be at the bottom. Additional Confidant content goes in-between.

β˜… Main Code

Main Header

Main Footer

In the Footer, you have the ability to add the name of your playable character by replacing ***YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME*** as such.

You also have the option in the Footer to add a picture of your character to appear on the left. The piture should have a transparent background and be exactly 600 pixels tall. (This includes any blank space that may be at the top). Width can vary, but a minimum of around 400 pixels is recommended. If you have a photoediting program, you could also add a 6 pixel gray border (using #9e9f9e) around your image. To add this replace the the tag ***CHRACTERIMAGE*** with the URL of your image.

You can see live previews of this code using an image of a character that does not come from the Persona canon here in black and white and here in color.

β˜… Confidants

The confidant section of your sheet is where a majority of the information will go. The code below is a template ready for you to add and adjust all the necessary information for your confidants.

Confidant Code

There are a handful of sections that need to be updated and customized for each confidant. ***ICONURL*** can be updated to the usericon of your Confidant/CR. ***CHARACTER NAME*** is as it sounds. ***ARCANA*** is for the assigned arcana of the confidant.

Arcana. names are meant to be abbreviated. I.E. Hierophant is called "Hiero." in P5. For names that are NOT abbreviated (More than 5 or 6 characters), replace font: italic 28px arial black; with either font: italic bold 28px arial narrow; for moderately long Arcana names (I.E. "Priestess") or font: italic bold 24px arial narrow; letter-spacing: -1px; for longer names (I.E. "Hanged Man").

And the final section is for you to add a description of the confidant relationship.

You will also notice there are two sections, Tarot and Rank, respectively, that need to be updated.

HTML Question

Sorry if this is a silly question, but where in the HTML would you add the confidants? I'm not sure where it would go in order to have it like the example.

How should counting comments toward Social Links be handled for threads with multiple characters?
